Travel Information

There is the possibility that there is a "buses replacing trains" timetable on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July between Edinburgh and Leuchars. More details are available from National Rail.

The bus replacement service does not take much longer than the train. However you might consider taking the Stagecoach bus link to Inverkeithing if you are arriving at the airport: see here.

Complimentary buses travelling to the conference accommodation at DRA will meet the 2.57pm, 3.57pm, 4.57pm, 5.57pm trains arriving from the South at Leuchars railway station on Sunday the 5th of July.

A map of St Andrews can be found here.

A guide to travelling to the university can be found here.

Information for visitors concerning the recent flu outbreak is available here.

Visas

Where appropriate, the organizers will be happy to write a letter confirming that you have registered for the conference. However, we regret that we can be of no further help in obtaining visas to the UK.

Please contact the IT department of your home institution to obtain information regarding eduroam. In particular, it is necessary to register for this service at your home institution and it may not be possible to do this once you are in St Andrews.

All delegates will have access to the internet via the wired connection in their rooms at DRA via accounts issued at the time of registration the conference. Please remember to bring an ethernet cable with you if you want to access the internet in your accommodation.

Facilities for talks

The contributed talks will take place in Rooms 314 and 412 and Theatres A, B, C and D of the Purdie Building (see 10 in E3 on the map).

Rooms 314 and 412 both have ceiling mounted data projectors, with push-button wall mounted control panels. There are also conventional OHPs in each room, along with whiteboards.

Theatre A has blackboards, a conventional OHP and a data projector.

Theatres B, C and D all have whiteboards, visualisers and data projectors with easy to use touchscreen control of the system.

There are classroom PCs in each room with connection points for laptops. If anyone will be bringing their own MAC laptop, please remember to bring the VGA/video adaptor with you.

Please also note that we cannot provide any facilities for Power Point presentations.

Submitting a copy of your talk before the conference

If you would like to submit an electronic copy of your talk before the conference, please follow the instructions below.

Email a pdf file of the final version of your talk to bcc2009@mcs.st-and.ac.uk after the 29th of June.

The title of the pdf should be your last name, and the subject line should be precisely "BCC2009 Talk slides" (without the quotes).

Leaving St Andrews
